Electrical Test Instruments
Tue Aug 14, 2018 8:22 am
Electrical testers are devices designed to test the presence of, rather than measure, electrical conditions. These testers can range from very simple instruments that some signals are present in the circuits.
Electricity is, perhaps, the one common denominator in industrial, commercial and residential settings. It is the power that runs the motors, brightens rooms, controls the temperature, etc. Potentially, it is also very dangerous. Testers provide a quick and easy way to verify electrical conditions, often with just a simple audible or visual cue, prior to the repair or maintenance of a live circuit.
Test equipment is necessary for determining proper set-up, adjustment, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and control panels.
The following is a general procedure for use of test equipment:
VOLTMETERS
For measuring differences of potential (voltage) between two points in an electrical circuit. The instrument is connected in parallel with the circuit being measured. Ranges vary from a few tenths volt to a few thousand volts. Instruments are capable of measuring both A.C. and D.C.
voltage.
OHMETERS
For measuring the electrical D.C. ohm resistance of a circuit, circuit part, or component.Calibrated from zero ohms to infinite. Measures either series or parallel resistance.

There is this tester where Voltmeter and Ohm-meter are already present, why are these two still exist?

Are there some more tester than these two?

Electricity is very general, at least specify which type of electricity you're referring to?

How would you know if your measuring tool is accurate?

We have voltmeter for measuring the volts of electricity, we also have ohmmeter for the resistance and Ammeter for the current.

Yes we also have ammeter for the current.
and we also have multitester. These multitester is composed of ammeter, voltmeter and ohmmeter.

Yeah! That's right.

What is the best thing to use the analog tester or the digital tester?

For me the digital tester because it gets the accurate value.

so you're saying that analog tester is not accurate?

I didn't say that. It just happen that digital tester for me is simple to use than the analog tester.

Sometimes analog testes is not accurate. So it means that digital tester is much better?

Why is it only 2 equipments are in there? Which are also engineering electrical tools to measure voltage current and ohms.

there are 3 kinds of ohmmeter
1. Micro ohmmeter- it is used to measure extremely low resistance with high accuracy at particular test currents and is used for bonding contact application.
2. Mego ohmmeter- used to measure large resistance values.
3. Milli ohmmeter - is used t measure low resistance at high accuracy confirming the value of any electrical circuit.

digital because ir requires a lot of time if you use analog tester for reading
